Dr. Sara Rodriguez Martinez holds a PhD in Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Barcelona. She is specialized in Water microbiology. During her postdoctoral researches in the University of Compiegne (France) and the University of Haifa, (Israel), Dr Rodriguez Martinez took part in national and international projects that included members from Spain, France, Germany and Israel both from academy and industry. She also collaborated in projects with the Technion Israel Institute of Technology. Her research topics included the improvement of pathogen detection techniques in water environments, understanding the behavior of pathogens in water, evaluation of the efficiency of water treatments, risk assessment of reused water and water disinfection methods. She has published 15 articles in peer-reviewed journals and attended numerous professional meetings where she presented both talks and posters. In addition to her academic research, she has also worked in industry. Sara has been the Responsible Manager of the Microbiology Department in Rabassa Ambient SL., a Quality Control laboratory located in Spain. During this time she specialized in laboratory management, quality control and method validation and accreditation. She possesses a rich teaching experience. She has been teaching in two B.Sc degrees (Biology and Environmental Sciences) and in one M.Sc degree (Water, interdisciplinary analysis and sustainable management) at the University of Barcelona. She has also mentored undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects and was in charge of the B.Sc internship students in the private sector.
