Clinical Social Worker : Complex Trauma & Traumatic Stress Clients

As a clinical social worker, Jen Baumgardner, LICSW, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), works with complex trauma and traumatic stress clients.

She has found Meditative Movements™ to be essential for her own grounding between sessions.

Her clients enjoy them too and report feeling more grounded and calmer in their bodies. She presented the movements at a healthcare worker's (nurses and physical therapists) conference as a way to cope with the high stress levels they face.

They have all expressed excitement about how this technique is an effective tool that is quick and simple. She is happy to be able to offer Meditative Movements in her practice helping clients feel better in their bodies and more at ease.

Interaction for Continuum of Care staff with residents and Self-care

As you teach the group class, tears are running down Susie’s cheeks as she practices the I Am Safe Meditative Movement. She has been abused in the past and your heart warms knowing that she is healing. You visit Susie in her room the next day and notice that her anxiety has returned. You practice the movement with her, and she feels safe again.

At lunch you are finding that you need a boost and so you practice the I Am Strong Meditative Movement which releases your stress and energizes you. As a result, you are now ready to give fully to others because you feel stronger physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Autism Students Take Mental Health Breaks to Improve Learning

Bekah Rieke, School Teacher, sprinkles Meditative Movements throughout high schooler’s day giving them an opportunity to feel good about themselves. Taking 3-5 minute breaks during the day improves their motivation and they learn better.

Her students are neurodiverse; they may have autism and other disabilities.

"We started practicing with the I Am Safe Meditative Movement™ online video. It was very seamless and there wasn’t any resistance, and they quickly embraced the movement messages and embodied them.

When I think about those students not even knowing their backgrounds very well but maybe having little inklings of their backgrounds, these foundational things are so important.

I am safe is a big one because I don't know what's going on in their lives but our school really does strive to be a safe place and so to say that like here in this room in this school I am safe is a big deal."
