We offer our certificate training because being a teacher is rewarding. Ellie, creator of the Meditative Movement™ technique, began teaching fitness classes in 1980. As a divorced mother of three children under the age of 5, exercising her mind, body and spirit felt so good, she wanted to share her love of exercise with others. She saw how her students increased their self-love as well as other healthy changes were occuring naturally like losing weight, overcoming depression, and reduction in medications.
She was working as Ellie from the deli part time earning $80 a week while receiving sporadic child support payments. At the height of her fitness teaching career, she taught 14 workout classes a week to supplement her deli income. For her to stay healthy, she needed some of her fitness classes to be less of an impact on her physical body. Hence, we offer cardio, flexibility, balance, and strengthening exercises that are adaptable to any ability so teachers can stay healthy while instructing others.
Ellie wants you to have this same opportunity to teach in your own community. You too can create a space where others can practice Meditative Movements™, earn a good income or volunteer your time, and teach classes that meet your and your student's needs and schedules.
If you have no prior group fitness instruction experience, we guide you through this process. For example, the American Council on Exercise offers Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Health Coach Certfications.
As part of our process, you will complete an instructor profile identifying additional areas you may need in order to be successful. Our Meditative Movement™ certificate is cost effective and is an easy way to start your own practice. Your income potential is unlimited. We support you so you can reach your success goals.
Meditative Movements™ can easily be added to existing health fitness professionals teaching skill set. Group fitness instructors already teaching yoga, Tai Chi, Qiqong and other body work practices can integrate a few Meditative Movements™ into their existing routine or teach an entire class. Because the technique fits youth up to the elderly, you can choose the movements that fit your physical abilities and needs.
If you are looking to teach classes that are easy on your own body, this technique is great for Senior, Independent and Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing Facilities.

The University of Minnesota Occupational Therapy Department's feasibility research study concluded that Meditative Movements™ may be effective in reducing anxiety, depression, and fatigue, while improving emotional well-being and functional well-being for persons with chronic health conditions. The findings suggest that Meditative Movements™ may be used as an alternative and complementary therapy or rehabilitation program for persons with chronic health conditions. Here's more information about the study.
"I haven't done the combination meditation/movement before, other than Qigong, and not with affirmations like this, so this class was fascinating, helpful and empowering. I tend to be resistant to affirmations, so I appreciated this new approach. Voicing / speaking the phrases was difficult but probably good for me. Thanks for keeping it simple." Pathways Participant
"Like yoga, Meditative Movements™, connects the body, mind, and spirit...but what is unique about Meditative Movements™ is the way in which I can claim my own power to authorize immediate change within myself. By saying affirmations out loud AND intentionally including the body in the expression of myself, I am being touched on an emotional level. There is a very powerful emotional experience to be had in saying the affirmations out loud while also expressing yourself with bodily movement. I have FELT change within myself in a way that is both tangibly powerful (I can really feel it). I now recognize how important it is to include the body (and body movement) in my practices toward becoming a more calm and centered person who is effective in the world." Bekah Rieke, Integrative Nutrition Coach
"I entered the class with a headache and feeling wiped out. I left feeling on a more even keel and no headache. Even after six hours it has not returned." Pathways Participant
" The mantras with the movements imprint the messages into my muscles. Another highlight was when I kept making mistakes yet I didn't feel bad. It's nice to know and hear yourself saying nice things to yourself." Pathways Participant
" I like affirming myself. Saying the affirmations is easy and they make working out more fun. My relationships are changing and I have found myself saying I am loved and I am strong more frequently throughout the week." Marge
