Your Presence is Important: Validate Your Own Worth
In a previous blog, Believing You Matter to Reach Fulfilling Success, the It's a Wonderful Life film was mentioned because it conveys how important each individual is, whether one is able to acknowledge their own value or not.
"Strange, isn't it? Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?" – Clarence, the Guardian angel (in the film It's a Wonderful Life).
When we are small, we rely on others to validate our intrinsic worth. Do you feel like your childhood caregivers gave you all you needed? If yes, you have a solid foundation and know that you matter. For those of us who did not receive this kind of confirmation, we will struggle more with this concept. However, as adults, we can learn how to affirm our own worth today so we can be healthier, happier, and feel whole.
Think about it. Something as simple as your presence can bring a smile upon someone else's face. Your words can uplift and inspire. Your determination and desires can create and develop new ideas. Your mind can solve a specific problem in a way that no one else would even think of. So it is important to know that you matter, and you truly impact the people around you, from your loved ones to strangers.
We may not always get the validation we want. Hence it is important to have practices that support your own inner worth. Rediscovering that you matter is not an event; it is a process. This process can begin by practicing the I Matter Meditative Movement™.
